I'm a long time UNIX Oracle DBA type (12+ years) and have worked on
Windows now for the last 2 years using Oracle. The bottom line is it is
no harder or easier depending on your knowledge of the operating system.
There are do's and don’t's on both when installing, configuring, tuning,
etc.
But, in windows you can just plop in the CD and in a short time
answering a couple of questions, you've got a starter database. This is
not the to say that it would be this easy in a production environment
but it seems easier in a lot of ways.
If I had my choice I would still prefer to run under a UNIX/Linux
environment to avoid the OS restrictions associated with memory and
security issues.
Regards Jim

depends on who you ask but would say its *much* easier on windows 1 no
sa to deal with 2 no cdroms to mount 3 no *real* file systems to mount
or deal with less permissions to be concerned with

less than 1 hour for install with a general database + 1 hour

I think thats overkill ;-) but you can always find the release notes for
the distribution/platform from metalink (get fresh ones)
