Operating System: Red Hat 3 - "2.4.21-32.0.1.ELsmp"

Database: 9i "9.2 Standard Edition"



I've installed a new database on a new instance in order to create an RMAN
database. After installing the binaries, I've attempted to install a
database manually which appeared to work ok. How ever when I start the
database up, I get the following error. Any ideas? An idle instance can
run ok or even startup in "nomount" status is fine.

SQL> connect / as sysdba

Connected to an idle instance.

SQL> startup;

ORACLE instance started.

Database mounted.

ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced

SQL>



Below is a caption of the alert and udump log when the database is
attempting to start. Also the init.ora file and db creation script.
