RE: ODBCA PROBLEM

RE: ODBCA PROBLEM

Did you try pre-creating your initsid.ora and putting it in the dbs directory? That is put it in the dbs directory before you start dbca?

Subject: ODBCA PROBLEM

Hello ALL,

I have Oracle9i 9.2.0.5 Enterprise database on Sun Solaris and
Oracle9iAS application servers also on a similar but separate machines.

Here is my problem is with ORACLE DATABASE CONFIGURATION ASSISTANT
(DBCA)
Each time I took a template (with DATA) of the database and tried to
clone it on another server I get an error
at 92% on the "Completing Database Creation' step.

Here is the error messages:

ORA-00922 MISSING OR INVALID OPTION
RETRY OR ABORT.

RETRY - continues to come back and does nothing.

ABORT - rollsback my DBCA processses and does not create the database.

But when i take a template WITH STRUCTURE. I was able to clone the
database without problems.
HOW DO I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

HERE IS MY WORK AROUND:

1. I gored any of the options (retry or abort)
2. I switched over to the Unix prompt
3. I enter ctrl C, which terminated the DBCA session
4. I noticed that a database was created
5. I shutdown the instance
6. I startup the instance
7. I received the error " unable to open file
($ORACLE_HOME/dbs/initSID.ora) file
The instance will not come up
WORK AROUND
8. I noticed the initSID.ora was created in the pfile
9. I copied the initSID.ora from the pfile directory to the dbs
directory
10. I started my instance and it came up

I have done the above processes each time I ran DBCA to clone my
databases

HELP:
I NEED SOLUTION TO THE FIRST PART SO I DO NOT HAVE TO DO THE SECOND
PART. I.E., THE WORK AROUND.
EVEN THOUGH MY DATABASE WORKS AFTERWARD, BUT THE DBCA PATH IS NOT RIGHT.
SO HOW DO I
SOLVE THE PROBLEM ??????

THANKS,
OSSY
