I think what 10g means is when you drop or remove datafiles/tablespaces it also cleans the files physically which was not the case in earlier versions at least until oracle 8i. I am not sure about 9i.

I was told that you can now drop "empty" datafiles in Oracle Database 10G Release 2. Does that mean logically and physically or just logically? Thanks for you support!
