RE: Have RMAN Fix Bad Blocks?

RE: Have RMAN Fix Bad Blocks?

Yves, Have you had the opportunity to use the blockrecover statement and if so were you successful most of the times you used it?

I was caught in a similar situation recently and I tried using dbms_repair.fix_corrupt_block procedure but it didn't really fix the corrupt block for me and instead I had to make the corrupt block SKIP everytime the adjacent blocks would be read. I am really interested in knowing what truly can fix a corrupt block. I have opened up a tar with oracle on this issue and can share my experience and observation when I think I will have resolved my problem.

merci beaucoup,

Subject: Have RMAN Fix Bad Blocks?

Hello,

I am using Oracle9i. I have heard that RMAN can be used to fix block

corruption in a way that the database does not have to be taken

offline. Can anyone please share what the RMAN steps and commands are

to do this?

Thanks,

Effie
