Most of the time required to apply a patch to a production machine is
the time required to do a full backup before and after the patch is
installed (at least before, I prefer before and after). That,
obviously, depends on your backup strategy, database size, etc.

Hello Gururs,

I trying to install an oracle patch which is running on Solaris 2.8 (32
bit).
The oracle version : 8.1.7.4
The patch is from the october 2005 release.

Can anyone help me on how much time it will take to install the
Oracle patch on this Oracle 8.1.7.4 ?..

This is an urgent issue since we need to install as soon as possible.
