I have installed Oracle 9.2.7 on a Sun box.
When I create a new database with DBCA everything goes well until I do
an export.
The export fails due to a metadata error.

The only way I have found to fix the problem is to run catpatch every
time I create a new database.

Seems to me, once the patch has been applied to the RDBMS libraries I
should not have to run catpatch again.

Am I missing something?
