You can get command history in the kshell on HPUX.

for the shell, ZSH is the most powerful, but you need a good .zshrc.
If you are an unix beginner, use bash, simplest.
Verify that ~/.bash_history is writable by the current user if you want
persistent history.
If you want history in sqlplus, you can use rlwrap
(http://utopia.knoware.nl/~hlub/uck/rlwrap/)
or
gqlplus
(http://gqlplus.sourceforge.net/)
