Hello.

I recently got a spate of ORA-02049 errors on an 8.1.7.4 database,
which (after looking at the alert logs) appears to coincide with an
alter database datafile ... resize of a 6001M datafile to 8001M which
took about ten minutes. The timeout for distributed transactions is
set to 6000 seconds.

The tablespace is locally managed, with uniform extent sizing. A
colleague suggested that the "bitmap was locked" during the resize
operation, but couldn't point to where this might be documented or
provide further details. I've searched metalink and tried googling,
and I can't see an obvious reference in the documentation set I've
got. Does anyone know if this is expected behaviour, and if so where
it's documented?
