RAC or OS-CLUSTER software

RAC or OS-CLUSTER software

Hi all,

I've just been into a RAC course which is really a very good one ... But am not impressed/convinced on whether I should be using it or not especially when the type of filesystems to use or the one that it support is a big question mark on the wall. Even the instructor does not want to commit what filesystem should be used, and of course, some 3rd party vendors, Veritas, Netapps, EMC may have to brought into the picture as well.

Anyway, I would like to get everyone's input on whether load balancing connection is configurable on the OS level or not, like if you have IBM's HACMP or SUN or HP cluster software ... ??? If so, would you rather use this insted of RAC? Load balancing seem to be the MAIN BENEFIT of RAC so am trying to find it if this is configurable in the OS's cluster software instead of having to use Oracle RAC.

Thanks in advance ...
