Hi Guys:
Long time lurker, first time poster . . .
We have several schemas with some tables with tens of millions of rows . . .
that have never been analyzed. Ever.
I want to use dbms_stats on our test instance, and I want to show before and
after performance effects.
What is the best way to go about collecting this data? I want to show hard
numbers to our end users (and my boss).
Also, would something like iostat also be useful to show performance gains?
Thanks in advance,
Brian
p.s. - I am going to export the statistics before I do anything, just in
case gathering the statistics somehow screws with performance. I've never
seen this, personally, but I've hear it can happen.
