1. makes sure that your sqlnet.ora is having the line and the line
is not #

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)

2. Add your logged O/S user to ora_dba

Then you will be able to sqlplus> conn / as sysdba

Protect your O/S password for the logged user as from now on he "holds
the keys" to your DB
