Maybe I shouldn't be working this late at night...
Oracle on an IBM x366/ RHEL AS 4 with 16GB of ram... SGA max is set to
8GB, buffer_cache at 6GB with a 2GB variable size.
In my mind, max oracle memory consumption should be 8GB?
However, memory usage is around 15/16GB with the occasional forage into
swap when I drive the load up. Top gives me oracle as the primary
consumer. Performance is shot to hell on a machine that should be faster
than a greased brick down a mine shaft.
Xwindows and other usual suspects are off.
What am I missing here?
