Are the indexes rebuild or indexes newly created in import.

Hi Deepak,
I agree with you, if you run the import with INDEXFILE=/tmp/somefilename
you will have a file that contains all the sql in the .dmp file. This
will also include the commands for the index creation.
When you run an import you normally have a pause after "xxxxxxxx rows
imported" as the indexes on that table are rebuilt.

100MB of table exported in a dump file will not take 100MB but much
lesser volume.Yes I believe only index definitions are exported & they
are rebuilt through these sQLs after table import or you may even create
an index file & rebuild them separately.

You mean that the 50 MB of index segment will also be exported and so
the total size of .dmp file will be 100 MB+ 50MB

Hi Gurus,
When we do a export and import of tables with indexes I think that only
the index definition is exported and not the index segment is exported.
What I mean is that if I have a table of 100 MB with 50 MB of index size
on that table. SO if I do a export with indexes then also only the 100
MB segment size of table will be exported and not the another 50 MB of
indexes segment. Only the index definition is exported and a new index
is created on the import site.
Please clarify me if I am right or wrong.
