RE: Export Import of indexes

RE: Export Import of indexes

Actually, Amar P. Singh is correct. This can be determined easily by watching operations on the database. Once all the data is imported, you will see a create index command being run. There is also an import option to put the create index commands in a separate file (indexfile=) to be run later.

Subject: Export Import of indexes

Hi Gurus,

When we do a export and import of tables with indexes I think that only
the index definition is exported and not the index segment is exported.

What I mean is that if I have a table of 100 MB with 50 MB of index size
on that table. SO if I do a export with indexes then also only the 100
MB segment size of table will be exported and not the another 50 MB of
indexes segment. Only the index definition is exported and a new index
is created on the import site.

Please clarify me if I am right or wrong.

With Regards,

Amar P Singh
