I believe so that you can safely remove this entry from registry.
Basically the purpose of this entry is that if we don't provide the
connect string while using say sqlplus, session will get created in
default_sid database.

On one of our Windows server, I have 6 oracle databases of version 9i.



When I give set oracle_sid=database_name in the command line, and try to
login as conn / as sysdba in the SQL*PLUS (I was expecting to connect to
the database_name that I have set in the command prompt), but it always
connects to the oracle database that was created last on the server.



On checking the regedit entries I found that the Default_sid=last
database name. I have no clue as to why this has happened. Can I remove
the registry setting of the default_sid, so that I can expect to connect
to the database that I set in the command prompt?
