RE: Automated removal of archive logs

RE: Automated removal of archive logs

I currently use a Perl script to do such removal, removing old trace
files, etc. It is my understanding that RMAN can also be configured to
remove archive logs once they are backed up. I am working on putting
that in place and once done, will modify my Perl script to no longer
remove archive logs.
Hope this helps,
Laura

Subject: Automated removal of archive logs

Hello All,

Oracle 9.2.0.7
Windows 2003

What determines when old archive logs are removed/purged from the
archive_log_dest? Is this something that can be set in Oracle via an
init.ora param, or do I need to schedule a job to run that removes files
older than a number of days from that directory....etc.

Thank you,

Martin
