RE: OEM Reports

RE: OEM Reports

Grid Control (GC) support (managed) any Oracle version from 8.1.7.4 and
higher. The GC use its on database (default installation) which is 9.0
in GC (10g1) and 10.1 in GC (10g2). When I start with GC all my database
was 8i !! Even now I have many of them in 8i and some in 9i none in 10g.
So you have no "fear" to start with GC. It is easy to install, and much
to handle.

In the past we have generally not used too many of the Oracle tools. So
database, enterprise manager, management server, etc have always been
the same version. I don't believe our version of ERP system supports
anything higher than 9.2.0.6 for the database. So is it ok (or wise) to
have some of the tools such as the Grid Control at different versions
that the database? However I must say that this version each step has
its own set of problems - such as the jobs not finishing......

Thanks for your comments.

I've found the 9i version not useful
May you try to install Grid Control for remote and central control I use
GC10.1 for al my production databases (you just need to install an agent
in every host and stop the original (9i, 8i) agent

Ofer

I have been trying to set up some jobs to run through OEM to analyze
some tables. If I Execute it now, it executes successfully. If I say
submit as a job, then the jobs starts, but never finishes. The user has
access to run a batch job. Any ideas as to where to look to see what
the problem is?

Thanks for your help.
