Hi,
I am migrating a 32bit application to Integrity Linux. On Itanium
processor, RHEL 4 is supported in 64 bit only. To migrate the
application in 32bit, we are planning to use IA32EL.
The application uses the Oracle 9i Engine and Client interfaces. I want
to understand following :-
1. Should I Install oracle in 64bit mode on native Linux or
should I install oracle in 32bit mode on IA32EL.
If I install Oracle9i in 64 bit mode then can 32bit (IA32)
application running over IA32EL will be able to talk to 64bit oracle
database instance without any issues (issues that can occur due to 32bit
to 64bit migration.)
Can I install the Oracle9i in 32 bit mode over IA32EL. If yes
then can you please let me know the steps. What kindof performance
impact I can see.
I am very new to databases. Hence, I will appreciate detailed
answer.
