Hi,
Chitra,
What platform is your old server and the new server?
A. If they are on the same platform/OS (Unix to Unix and same version)
or (NT to NT) you will not have a problem doing a cold backup.
B. If they are of different platforms/OS, then you'll need to do an
export/import.
C. If you can not afford your DB to be down, then you'll have to make
your DB in archive log so that you can take a hot backup and restore on
the new server.
