Auditing in Oracle






Hi Gurus,
Why auditing is used in oracle? What will happen if I turn off auditing?
What parameters need to be changed to turn off auditing?
I need to turn off auditing due to space constraint ( Frequent ORA-09945)
We are running Oracle 9i on Solaris.
