I think already most of the memory space(appx. >80%) is already used by
Oracle Instance itself.Check the sga_max_size. If other applications are
running in the server. Those applications will be what causing the
Paging(because of lack of physical memory). You please tune the sga
properly and release the space from sga if that is not used by oracle.

Subject: a lot of pagging going on
We just upgraded from AIX 5.1 running 9.2 to AIX 5.3 ML4 running 10g
today. This machine as 5gb of memory and I have paging space set to
5gb. I am noticing a lot of paging going on right now. When I do an
lsps -a it is showing paging spaced used at 60%. Any idea on why I am
paging so much.
Db_cache_size = 2500M
Shared_pool = 1000M
Large_pool = 100M
PGA = 500M
