Your database is in archivelog mode but cannot archive its full, current
log; if the directory it archives to, would be 100% gfull then you'd
receive an ORA-00257 , so I gues your database runs in manual archiving
1. from SQL*Plus prompt issue : SQL> archive log list
2. if Database log mode is "Archive Mode" and Automatic archival is
"Disabled" then
3. from SQL*Plus prompt issue "archive log start" to start
automatic archiving
4. in pfile/spfile set the parameter "log_archive_start = true" to
enable automatic archiving if the database is bounced

I've received an error in my Oracle 10G database, and the error is
"ORACLE
Instance <database name> - Can not allocate log, archival required."
please anyone tell me what is this error and how to get a rid of that.
