We have unfortunately filled up our archive log destination, fixed the
problem by cleared it down but got the following message in the alertlog

ARC0: Failed to archive log# 1 seq# 29234
ARC0: Beginning to archive log# 3 seq# 29235
ARC0: Archiving not possible: No primary destinations
Wed Nov 30 14:33:10 2006

Although there is space now to write too Oracle seems to have lost its
link to the primary logfile destination!!


Any ideas whether this can be corrected without a shutdown and restart
of the database ? the db is 8.1.7.4
