I start working for my company for their oracle DB
It is oracle 9i. using windows NT.
The DB size is about 35 GB as we get from the file size of the last full backup includ backing up all archive log files.
We have Opreating System files about an 200 GB for the archive log files I think this is the hole archive log files for
the DB since it created.
We using Oracle Enterprise Manager.
When I look for the archive files using EM I can get only the last 3 monthes history of them updated every day which mean
I can't get any info about the archive files back more than three monthes.
This teaks time when we use Veritas backup. And it is a 200 GB speace we going to need.

I have some quistions. or we need some advice

We think of doing RMAN backup way using EM backup waizard to tap. how we can regester those archive files, can be by using
Cataloging Archived files.

The 35 GB full backup using EM backup got us 12 hours to be done (we using 1 channel desk typ) can we configur more channels
for the same destination to speed up the back.

How long is recomanded to have archive log files?
How long and how meny are recomanded to have copies of backup?
