Why do you think that in Oracle10G (and also in 9i 2) the system
tablespace can also be a LMT ? Because that is the preferred way to go.
Dictionary managed tablespaces become extinct

Subject: Space Management ----Local or Dictionary
Hi all,
In a production environment with Oracle 9i Database RAC , what would be
the preferred mode of space management (LOCAL or DICTIONARY)..During
installation , due to lack of adequate knowledge, extent management was
retained as LOCAL which is the default .
Kindly advice.
Thanks and regards,
Raj
