RE: Database clonning.

Hi,

Your question is very generic and therefore hard to answer specifically.

I'll give it a try:

If you are using unix and do a full restore on a standalone server, it
should work.

If you are using windows and do a full restore on a standalone server,
it should work.

In most cases you are in a network, which means unique ip addresses and
servernames, and you don't do full restores but install a server with a
OS and after that you install the oracle software.

On Unix you should look at /etc/oratab, listener.ora and tnsnames.ora,
pfile/spfile; on windows you should look at pfile/spfile, listener.ora
and tnsnames.ora, and create the services using oradim

May be you better ask somenone with more experience to help you.

Regards,

Ytzen

Subject: Database clonning.

Hi,
I have a whole filesystem dump of a database 10.2.0.2
How can I recreate the database on the new server.
What will be the updates and other steps to be taken.
