RE: locally managed tablespaces

RE: locally managed tablespaces

Hi Mans,

Thanks again for the response.

My concern is again performance. All of my locally managed tablespaces are created with auto option. I am trying to see if there are possible advantages of switching to manual. I am looking for documentation on cons and pros of both options

Thanks,
Milana

Hi Milana ... me again :-)

Do you refer to segment space management?
If yes, when using segment spage management auto you don't need to tune
pctfree and freelists which you might need when set to manual. You can see
this if the ITL waits are high or you suffer from very high cache_buffer_chains event.

DBAs,

Does any one have a reference to documentation that compares cases where
auto is preferred over manual(or another way around) in locally managed
tablespaces for 10G?

Thanks,
Mila
