Re: ARCHIVELOG on RAC Database

Re: ARCHIVELOG on RAC Database

You will need to keep a copy of your archive logs if you ever want to
recover your database. This is a requirement for recovery whether you use
RMAN or not. Back them up to tape then delete them off your storage. You
will also need to periodically backup the entire database so you can start
a recovery from that point.

Subject
ARCHIVELOG on RAC Database

Dear All

I’m using Oracle 10g R2 RAC, my Database sits on storage device using raw
devices, the Database is configured with ARCHIVELOG mode.
1. Now if I’m not using RMAN, how can I delete the archive files?
2. If they don’t get deleted, will the size of the archive files keeps
increasing until it fills up the entire storage.

Regards
