Dennis,
This is just a guess. Does your Powerbuilder application use Longs or
CLOBS? The error may occur when the long or CLOB data exceeds 4,000
bytes. I've had Omnis applications, similar to Powerbuilder, give
similar errors after the database was upgraded to 9i and the client was
still at net 8.
