Check the value of the parallel_adaptive_multi_user parameter - it may be
good for you to switch this to true - this makes parallel jobs nicer to
other people on the system.
Check parallel_max_servers make its value less and you will restrict the
number of parallel processes which will be allowed to execute.
Additionally, are you absolutely sure that these parallel processes are
bringing your machine down?
Check to see if they are currently active - if they are asleep, then they
may not be affecting you much at all.
Just becuase there are lots of these processes, it doesn't means they are
behaving badly...
If there are big DW type queries going on, then it may be better to try to
get these scheduled to run out of hours or something like that. Reducing
parallism on these processes could make them run so slowly that they cannot
complete in their allotted time. Many things to consider.
