RE: oracle forms

RE: oracle forms

Which version of Oracle Forms do you have? I have used Oracle Forms for
15 years, and I really like the LOV feature and text items. I rarely
use a "list item". In the versions of Oracle Forms that I have worked
with, it is always possible to activate an LOV either via the menu or
via a keystroke shortcut. (I have not used Oracle Forms9 or 10 yet, we
plan to upgrade to Forms10 later this year.)

Subject: oracle forms

hi, I would like to ask you for some help.
I need to create a form and for this reason I use Oracle Forms and
Reports; I would like you tell me if you got knowledge of other product
doing same thing.
I do have a problem because I want to crate a list - a combo box - or
equivalent, that I would like to contain data from a table already built
into tha database - so I need to put a result from a select statement
(select distinct column_x from table_y) into the list, but I cannot
resolve the problem this way. I noticed that using LOV-s (list of
value), I can do some things, but using a text item, not a list item,
and things are not all right because when I have to chose a value from
the result of the select statement, I need to use the main menu to
select - "show list".

I would like you tell me if you know a source of examples for the
beginning steps in building oracle forms.

Thank you in advance for your effort.
