Hi Jeff
Absolutely the right way to do it :-)
If you have put your network/admin according to OFA, i.e. in $ORACLE_BASE/network/admin
and linked init.ora and/or spfile and password file to your $ORACLE_BASE/admin/SID/pfile
you might as well remove the old installation completely.
Cheers!
Måns Axell

Subject: standard to enterprise upgrade
I am going to be upgrading my Standard Edition 10.2 database to
Enterprise Edition. I was told the best way to do it was to create a
new ORACLE_HOME and then install Enterprise there and then start up the
database with the new ORACLE_HOME and run catalog.sql and catproc.sql.
My question is about what is defined as a NEW ORACLE_HOME. My current
ORACLE_HOME = /oracle/app/oradb/product/SDB.10.2 Is it ok if my new
ORACLE_HOME is in /oracle/app/oradb/product/EDB.10.2 ??? It is
basically the same structure but just a different folder.
Thanks.
