Do you have the oracle10 listener set up for the DB you want to connect to?
If so, stick an entry in your oracle9 tnsnames pointing to the oracle10
instance. Then, just set your ORACLE_SID (or TWO_TASK) and away you go...

I have to connect to 10g database..but on machine 9i has configured
default ORACLE_HOME..
And when I used to go through prompt mode I am getting ora-01034
