RE: Help database not working

Copy one of your other controlfiles over to the new disk.
Problem solved.

Subject: Help database not working

My client's server had a bad disk which was also being mirrored and that
disk had to be replaced. This disk had one of the control files stored
on it. To my understanding before fixing the hard disk failure the SA
shutdown the database. When the disk was replaced and the SA did what he
needed to do after replacing the disk he attempted to startup the
database but he got a ORA 205 error. However, he says he got a message
that the startup was successful. Later the client tried to access the
database and she got a ORA-01033 error. I am not sure if the solution to
this problem is an Oracle solution or a SA solution. The SA is asking if
there is a way to create another control file to recover the database. I
told him from what I understand if there is no backup then there is no
way to recover. I am not 100 % sure. Could someone tell me if it is
possible to not lose any data and rebuild a corrupt or bad control file?
