Ok

Create a connection link in the tnsname.ora file on your ora91 database
to
point to the server with oracle 8i database. Use net configuration
assistant.

You will also need synonyms from the ora91 database pointing to table
you
want in ora8i.

On ora8i database you need to grant permission on those tables to a user
in
ora9i database

Using the synonyms that user will access the data.

Hi Peter,

Following is my test case:

Database Name RWYG RGEY
Server Server1 Server2
Version 9i 8i

I want to access tables of RGEY Database (user AIRAPPS) from RWYG
Database (user FAAS).

When I fired the following statement, I encounter the error as (TNS
Coulud not resolve service name).

CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK "RGEY.WOLRD"
USING 'RGEY'

Please advice forward path.

You need to create a database link from oracle9i database.
Use

CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK "DB1.WOLRD"
USING 'DB1'

This should help
