You have to increase the value of the PROCESSES in the init.ora file as
this is number of total connections allowed. You will have to shutdown
and start the database for this parameter to take effect.

Subject: ORA-12540 and ORA-12500 errors
I have an Oracle 8.1.7 database that is running on NT 4.0. When I try
to
connect in SQL*Plus I am getting this error;
ORA-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process
When I go to the server to try and log into svrmgrl I get
TNS-12540 TNS:internal limit restriction exceeded
The database is up and running but no new connection can be made.
Anyone
see this before?? Any hints on what I can do??
Thanks,
Dave
