Dave,
It sounds like the oracle process has hit the 2GB/3GB
process size limit on NT. See section 3d of the
following note to ensure the oracle process is allowed
to grow up to 3GB: Note: 46001.1 "Oracle Database and
the Windows NT memory architecture, Technical
Bulletin"
If the process is reaching 3GB then you need to reduce
the memory used:
* reduce the size of the SGA
* reduce sort_area_size
* use MTS
* use the OraStack utility to reduce the amount of
memory used for user sessions. By default 1MB is
used, but you can usually set it as low as 512K. Any
lower will probably cause problems. See Note:
23137.996 "Getting ora-12500 and ora-12540 after 1000
sessions connected"
