RE: DEFUNCT PROCESSES

RE: DEFUNCT PROCESSES

Don,

The CJQ process (Coordinator Job Queue) is the process that spawns off
database jobs. Check the DBA_JOBS table for these, and DBA_JOBS_RUNNING
to see those that it thinks are active. Make sure these are set up
correctly and are not failing. You may find more information in the
database alert log or any logs that the database jobs may create.

John.

Subject: DEFUNCT PROCESSES

Hey there LazyDBA Friends. Can anyone explain to me in detail what
DEFUNCT processes are and what causes them? We had to bounce the
database to elimate 10 defunct processes that were affecting the
application. Tried kill -9 for these processes, but to no avail.
Additional information: defunct processes have ora_cjq0_<SID_NAME> as
parent process.

Any feedback / info. is highly appreciated.

Best,
Don Napasindayao
