11g SecureFiles question

11g SecureFiles question

DBAs,
I am looking at data de-duplication solutions, and one thing I have
seen is that Oracle Securefiles in 11g not only performs deduplication, but
also compression and encryption. I think it'll even make me a donut. Anyways,
my question in regards to Securefiles is, and I've looked through some
literature, is the de-duplication on a file or byte level? I can't find this
documented anywhere, and from a cursory glance it looks like de-dupe is at a
file level, but if it was byte level, that would be great. A compressed,
de-duped, encrypted filesystem automatically managed for optimal throughput
on an ASM filesystem. It's just very very cool. Thanks!
