OK,

OFA was never mandatory, just a guideline. Did we ever "need" to use it.
No
is the answer. Is it a good idea to use it. Yes, I think it is. It helps
with consistency when you have multiple DBA's, contractors etc. So in
answer
to your question, TRUE there is no longer a need to follow OFA, but
there
never was.

M.

Hey Michael Peel,
True or False. Please provide proof! I got your proof but I didn't
get "True or False". I got "it depends"! hehe. The "it depends" leads
me to think that in some cases you don't need to use the OFA. Could you
elaborate some more (provide additional proof)? In other words, when
would you not use OFA? Hehe.

As in all cases, it depends.

In our case we still follow the OFA to some extent.
Our SAN is broken down into "quick small disks" and "slloooww big
disks".
So we can assign different filesystems to different disk groups
(archived
data etc on the slow disks, current data on the quick disks).

Works well for us.

To All,
It's Fridayyyyyyyy! Partyyyyyyyyyy! Hehe. Now so fast! It's test
time! Hehe. Can you win "the COKE"? hehe.

Question: Now that we are using SANs, etc, there is no longer a need
to continue to use the Oracle Optimal Flexible Architecture (OFA)
guidelines. True or False. Please provide proof! Hehe.
