Ed,
FALSE... OFA is used for more than performance... it is for
organization as well. Keeping REDO, CONTROL, DATA, ARCHIVE and LOG
files in known (and separate) directories and by multiplexing REDO,
CONTROL and ARCHIVE files, significantly decreases the chance of data
loss.

It also aids in administration when you bring in someone (employee,
contractor, consultant, etc.) within or from outside your organization
who is familiar with OFA and thus more familiar with your DBMS setup,
saving spin-up time and decreasing costs...

Rather have a Diet Dr. Pepper...
