I agree with that, but only to some level. We (DBAs) should perform
regular backups
on all production and development DBs. I think it is not fair to avoid
a few hours of our work
and hiding behind "all others didn't done their own backups". So:
developers should should
do their backups for archiving purposes when they think its a good time
to do that, we should
support them with knowledge and regular backups.
