This is a known issue when running Oracle 10G R2 on Windows. Are you 32 bit or 64 bit?
I would suggest you look up running Oracle on Windows and setting the VLM.There are other things required also in order to keep the system running.
Enable AWE and PAE and make sure the 3GB switch is on in the boot.ini
There are also some changes that are recommeneded by oracle. I have posted some of this on metalink in the past. You may want to look it up.

For what it's worth, I did get it to work and ran a 500 gig db system on 64 bit windows with 350+ connections.. oltp and dw processing.
I don't recommend it though.

Hi all.
I keep on getting this error and my database goes down.
Here is a clipping out of the trace file the last time it happened.
It's a oracle 10g release2 on a win2003 server.
I have increased the pga and decreased the sort_area_size by half. But
nothing seems to work.
Any help will be much appreciated.
