Do you want to change sid or db name?
select instance from v$thread; will return sid
select name from v$database; will return dbname

Hi List,

I need to change the SID of my database running on NT Box,would be glad if
anyone can send me the steps to do it ,i have tried using the ORADIM utility
by a creating a duplicate Init<sid>.ora file but unfortunately had no
success the Database is 8.0.3
