RE: URGENT- SHUTDOWN AND STARTUP DB

Shutdown Immed. and copying the files should be the way to go.
Shutdown(normal) may not work if people are working.

Subject: URGENT- SHUTDOWN AND STARTUP DB

Guys,
I have a question, my DB is in Archive log mode. I
need to make a cold backup of the system. Can I just
do shutdown and wait for the system to shutdown and
make a NT COPY of the whole DB structure on another
machine and do:
STARTUP again? If shutdown takes long time, can I just
do shutdown immediate? Or this type of shutdown is not
good for cold backup?

Thanks,
