It usually creates socket files in a directory ".oracle" under /tmp.

Anyone know what use Oracle makes of the UNIX /tmp directory during
shutdown.
I had a shutdown fail due to the /tmp directory being full.
What does Oracle write there? Can the files be written to another
location
using some parameter?
Thanks.
