Problems with Oracle 8i on NT (Pentium 4)????

Hi everyone,

My colleague is currently experiencing problems with installing Oracle
8i on the Compaq Pentium 4. Are any of you aware of any known problems
with Oracle 8i on the Compaq Pentium 4 PCs?

Desktop Support have the theory that Oracle is conflicting with the
Pentium 4. I have pasted an email from our desktop support person
below:

==================================
"The problem only occurs with the newer Compaq boxes no matter what OS
they run.
It may be due to the fact that the newer Compaq's are Pentium 4's, the
older Pentium 3 Compaq's have no problem installing the software.

The install fails when setup.exe launches the program jrew.exe from the
CD.

The file is at the following path
d:\stage\components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.3.0\1\datafiles\expand\jre\win32\bin\jrew.exe

Patch levels of the OS, other software packages have no effect the
program running.

I can not find any information on the Compaq, Oracle or Microsoft web
sites referring to this problem.

My theory is that its a compatibility problem with the Pentium 4
processor.

Maybe you could forward this information on to Oracle for a reply.

I hope this helps good luck."
==================================

Any advice from the Oracle guru's out there?

Thankyou in advance!

Cheers,
Leila.
