What kind of machine is it? Unix or MS?

If Unix, would be easy to connect to it via SSH or something..and run
the sqlplus/svrmgrl from 'there' and start/shutdown the db. If on MS, then
look possibly at isntalling VNC server/clients on the 2 machines...and
you can connect and open up the desktop of that machine from yours, and
again, run whatever you want to start/stop the db. VTC is freeware if
you need it...
