Exp/Imp are utilities to be run from OS command line and not within
SQL*Plus.
I suggest you review Utilities Guide to understand how these work.
The Guide is at http://tahiti.oracle.com/pls/tahiti/tahiti.homepage.
Click on 'books' and then on UTI. Or use the search window for exp or imp

Subject: Import/Export Dilemma on Win2k with 8.1.7.0.0
Hi Experienced DBAs
I am running Oracle 8.1.7.0 on Win2k, and have 2 problems I would appreciate
assistance on:
1. When executing commands imp and exp get the "unknown command"
error. Now checking the Oracle products installed, I see that Import/Export
is installed. So, how do I get to run/execute imp and exp in sqlplus?
Following is the listing of my SQL*Plus window:
SQL*Plus: Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production on Thu Mar 28
15:08:46 2002
(c) Copyright 2000 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Connected to:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
SQL> exp
SP2-0042: unknown command "exp" - rest of line ignored.
SQL> exp help=yes
SP2-0734: unknown command beginning "exp help=y..." - rest
of line ignored.
SQL>
SQL> imp
SP2-0042: unknown command "imp" - rest of line ignored.
2. How can a basic user (not a DBA) import and export all the
objects they have available/created? I guess I am looking for a user level
import export script - assuming that does the complete user level backup.
My humble thanks in advance...
Mukhdeep
